EVICTION is rooted from a younger version of my self. Younger ME who was scared of everything from dogs, bodies of water, failure.. etc. After years of growth and self-reflection I remembered him telling me, for at least half reciting this sentence: “There is NOTHING to Fear but Fear Itself”. At first as a kid it was not a easy sentence to digest or to interpret. But in 2023 I wrote a poem. (Posted below) There It all clicked. Fear is a person, a figment of your imagination, it is physical presence, being and all illusion all at the same time.

EVICTION was born. My first installment came to be photos of shirts with things most people are afraid of, white supremacy, war, guns, the past, death, police, etc. pretty much broader topics, without going into detail about each one. Introducing the the fire element, which plays a role in this project.

Second installment. Artwork and Shirts. I collaborated with a good friend of mine, Bravo Sheen. To design a shirt with Artwork that captures the overall theme of the project. The Artwork: A burning house, eviction notice style template. and a sun.. a sun with the actual poem written inside. The graphic of burning house was a foreshadow to how I wanted the Project to end.

Third installment. Short Film. Tells a short story on how someone (me) is presented a opportunity that they were destined to do. But they didn’t because they were scared or feel like their not ready.. enough. If you watch the video below, I never give a real reason to why I can not do it.. there is fear of.. what exactly?

Fourth installment: I Built a house. And burnt it down. 10 feet high, 4x4 base, sturdy, shingled home. Written on the back wall “FEAR DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE”. Built for people to write on the inside on the walls. The Task: For folks to write out things that their fearful of, scared of, a emotional dump.
